Network meta-analysis is a statistical technique that enables comparison of multiple interventions to determine the one that is most effective. There are different statistical methods to synthesise data in a network meta-analysis and these can yield different results. A scoping review will be conducted to understand the use of network meta-analysis in infectious disease research. A simulation study will compare the performance of the different network meta-analysis methods, identifying the optimal one, which will then be applied to a case study.
