Abstract (50 words): Intercurrent events such as use of rescue medication, treatment discontinuation and death commonly occur in clinical trials. These events that happen after treatment initiation can either change the existence or the interpretation of the outcome of interest. However, there is often limited clarity on how such intercurrent events are handled. This project will use the estimand framework to bring clarity to research questions in trials, and align trial objectives with the design, conduct, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results. Using simulations, this project will evaluate statistical methods and graphical displays for supporting the estimand framework in complex trial settings.
