With increasing rates in Australia and across the globe, obesity is fast surpassing smoking to become the biggest preventable cause of cancer. Without fully understanding the mechanisms by which obesity might cause cancer, our chances to disconnect the obesity-cancer link are limited. In my PhD research project, I propose to do a comprehensive investigation of possible mechanisms linking obesity to colorectal cancer and breast cancer and to better understand the relative importance of those mechanisms for each cancer.
