HIIC

The Health Intervention Impact Calculator (HIIC) is a tool to harness and democratize the scientific and public health potential of simulation modelling of interventions. Through the HIIC interface, we enable researchers, policymakers and the public to explore and visualise health and economic impacts of public health interventions estimated by SHINE’s proportional multistate lifetable (PMSLT) simulation modelling.

Future directions

Future iterations (late 2025 through 2026) of HIIC will:

  • Expand the number of risk factors included up to about 20, first for Australia then other countries
  • Include all countries for health gain estimation – through changes in disease rates and risk factors
  • Include disease expenditure impacts for OECD countries (we do not have disease expenditure estimates beyond OECD countries to populate the SHINE PMSLT)
  • Include income gain outputs for Australia and New Zealand only
