Statistical Society of Australia (SSA) Venables Award for New Developers of Open Source Software for Data Analytics

Congratulations to Dr Rob Moss (Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics) on being awarded the Statistical Society of Australia (SSA) Venables Award for New Developers of Open Source Software for Data Analytics.

This national award is based on his Python package pypfilt, which implements robust particle filter Bayesian inference methods, with a strong emphasis on computational efficiency and reproducibility.

The software was central to the COVID-19 response nationally and in the region, used by multiple groups to generate near-real-time forecasts of cases to inform national government decision-making bodies.

Please see full details in the Journal of Open Source Software article (DOI: 10.21105/joss.06276).
