Congratulations to Dr Teralynn Ludwick on being awarded a University of Melbourne 2026 Early Career Researcher Grant.

About the project: Timely testing and treatment for STIs are critical for reducing transmission, but there are significant barriers to testing including shortage of specialist services, stigmatisation, embarrassment and privacy concerns.3 These barriers are compounded in rural areas, contributing to the increasing STI rates.   While online STI testing increases testing uptake4 and is preferred by young people for privacy and convenience, there are still barriers to use in non-metropolitan areas. By using a ‘secret shopper’ design, this study aims to improve how users navigate between online ordering of STI test request forms and presenting in-person for STI testing/treatment, and in doing so, improve access and quality of care.
