Shazra is a medical doctor, with more than ten years of clinical and public health experience with international organisations and national level health departments in maternal health, HIV, tuberculosis, and services for vulnerable populations. She has played a key role in the development of innovative healthcare initiatives and national guidelines and strategies on Pakistan’s maternal health and communicable diseases.  She has also led public health training programs in Pakistan, Nepal, and Saudi Arabia.

Shazra is actively involved in research projects and contributed towards developing healthcare initiatives for at-risk populations such as people living with HIV and TB, street children, and sex workers.  Her PhD project, revealed how health system level constraints were impeding the TB program’s performance; informed by her research she has proposed actionable approaches to improve patient experience and treatment outcomes.
