Mindwise: A multifaceted intervention to improve mental health literacy in staff and students of a multi-campus university

Project Details

This project aimed to assess whether a multi-faceted intervention could improve mental health literacy, facilitate help seeking and reduce psychological distress and alcohol misuse in students from Victoria University in Melbourne. The intervention was designed to be whole-of-campus and to run over two academic years with its effectiveness assessed through recruitment of a monitoring sample of students from each campus. Components of the intervention included emails, posters, campus events, factsheets/booklets and MHFA training courses. Results showed that, although there were some changes in knowledge and attitudes, it is likely that more intensive interventions are needed.
