Closing the housing gap: A spotlight on intergenerational inequalities

Project Details

There has never been more unequal access to housing and housing wealth among Australians. The consequences of these inequalities are different for current and future generational cohorts, a little-researched source of inequity. The project uses never-before analysed combinations of datasets and new data on Australian housing conditions to model these consequences, and to evaluate both individual and national benefits of housing interventions across generations. It applies powerful causally-focused methods to disentangle the drivers and health consequences of the intergenerational housing gap. The outcomes of this study offers policymakers robust evidence and direction for tackling this defining problem of our time.
