One year ago, the WHO released the Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer as a Public Health Problem. This seminar will discuss the strategy, its scale up targets, and reflect on some of the key developments and research that culminated in its development and what needs to happen next. These will include findings from Australia, as the first country to implement a large-scale human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program, and how HPV based screening allows for vaginal self-sampling, which offers a feasible way to screen millions of people across the globe.
