Melbourne Refugee Studies Program: Announcing the Asylum Blog

""

On the 10th of May, the Melbourne Refugee Studies Program (MRSP) announced the launch of the new blog, Asylum, which is now featured on their website

“The blog is intended as a space for discussing policy, programs and any other issues of importance to asylum seekers and refugees,” wrote Associate Professor Harry Minas, Director of the MRSP and Head of the Global and Cultural Mental Health Unit in the Centre for Mental Health. “We welcome all who are interested in asylum seeker and refugee policies and programs to contribute…we hope, above all, that it becomes a place where refugees and asylum seekers can directly express their views and experiences.”

MRSP is a University of Melbourne initiative in the Centre for Mental Health that intends to make a constructive contribution to discussion and decision-making concerning asylum seeker and refugee policies and programs in Australia and internationally. Establishment of the program was announced in an email to University staff by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Glyn Davis, on 28 February 2014.

Asylum welcomes contributions from researchers, educators, students, health and social services and legal professionals, policy makers, program managers, those who work in community agencies providing services to asylum seekers and refugees, and, above all, from asylum seekers and refugees.
