Professor Marcia Langton receives Officer for the Order of Australia

In June 2020, Professor Marcia Langton was made an Officer for the Order of Australia (AO) for her impact on tertiary education and as an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

In accepting the honour, Professor Langton drew attention to progress in Indigenous tertiary education and significant increase in numbers of Indigenous Australians with PhDs.

Professor Langton also highlighted the ongoing issue of Aboriginal deaths in custody and the need to retrain Australian police officers.
