Teaching Health Economics in Myanmar

""During March, Dr Michael Palmer of the Nossal Institute and Dr Kim Dalziel, of the Centre for Health Policy, had the great opportunity to teach a course on the Economics of Health Systems and Financing to the faculty from the Universities of Public Health, Economics and Medicine, in Yangon, Myanmar.

Drs Palmer and Dalziel introduced the theories of health economics and evaluation to assist future leaders of health policy and training in Myanmar as they embark on the road to universal health coverage. Feedback from the course was overwhelmingly positive with some attendees describing how valuable the new knowledge will be in their institutions going forward. Another attendee noted that "every person in the health secotor should be familiar with this topic".
