Acting Manager, Programs
After five years with Australian Red Cross and a year in Vietnam as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development, Lisa joined the Nossal in 2012. Finding a happy ‘fit’ in the health world, she was inspired to expand her expertise through the Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne, specialising in evaluation and the role food can play in disease prevention.
Lisa has a Bachelor of Photography from Queensland College of Art specialising in social documentary photography. She believes the storytelling power of photography is incredibly relevant for development programs, research and evaluation. She has documented development research and activities in Peru, Cambodia and Vietnam. As part of a Nossal project, Lisa travelled to rural Kenya to photograph traditional birth attendants in the Maasai community to help increase understanding of their lives among Kenyan policymakers.
When she’s not thinking about food and health, Lisa spends time with her mini sausage dog, Audrey, or makes metal objects through the traditional process of blacksmithing.
