Dr Gillian Dalgetty
Gillian is a multidisciplinary health systems researcher with a PhD in Medical Anthropology from the Australian National University. She lives in Ho Chi Minh City and works across mainland Southeast Asia.
During the past ten years, she has undertaken health services and systems research and consultancies in low- and middle-income countries, specialising in health system governance and financing. Her research topics include the use of regulation to achieve health system goals and strengthening of district level management. Gillian has also researched referral and health information systems and assessing the value of service integration/people centred care and financial sustainability of services. In addition, she is involved in strengthening analytical capacity for health systems research.
Gillian is the co-lead for a major World Bank project in Laos, working with the Ministry of Health and national research institutes to audit reporting of health information in the country for a pioneering program for results projects. She also works with UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office to research contraceptive security and sustainability in the region.
Gillian is interested in the GreenHealth movement and how health systems can reduce their ecological footprint while still achieving health equity and being people-centred.
