Dr Suman Shetty
Education and Learning Program Administrator
Suman’s area of interest is health promotion with a key focus on non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases. Since 2014, she has been working with refugees, migrants, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities by volunteering with not-for-profit organisations such as Hepatitis Victoria, Water Well Project, and the Centre for Culture Ethnicity and Health.
Her qualifications include a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India.
A career highlight for Suman so far has been working as a dentist in rural India and developing a plan to organise free dental screening and treatment camps in villages and schools across Kerala and Karnataka in South India.
Currently, at the Nossal, Suman’s goal is to advance the educational experience of students who may go on to become public health advocates and leaders who can work on practical solutions to pressing global health concerns.
Her personal goal is to create awareness and improve the management of infectious diseases in resource-constrained settings.
