Trina Howley is an experienced gender advisor, manager and analyst with experience across Southeast Asia and the Pacific. She joined the Nossal Institute in 2017.
Trina has served in several high-level program management and operational roles on Australian Government-funded programs and NGOs, in Australia and in-country. Recently, she was Contractor Representative for the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development (Pacific Women) Support Unit.
Trina was responsible for the technical and operational oversight of the program implementation and the financial monitoring of the $106 million Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) contract.
Trina is interested in the elimination of violence against women and their children and in the intersection of women living with disability and violence. She has experience in direct service provision within the Victorian response to domestic violence.
Trina was also a Gender Specialist on DFAT’s Asia Australia Prevention Trafficking In Persons (AAPTIP), Gender Adviser on the Bapedalda East Java Institutional Strengthening (BEJIS) Project and has sat on the Board of Directors of UNIFEM Australia and United Synergies.
Trina was Program Manager and Gender Adviser on DFAT’s National Program for Village Development in Timor-Leste and Senior Program Manager for the East Timor Justice Facility. She has also been Project Manager for the Women’s Health and Family Welfare Project in Indonesia, Head Office Program Manager for the Kiribati Education Sector Program, and Head Office Project Manager for the Indonesia Australia Specialised Training Project Phase II. Trina has also been Country Director for Austcare in East Timor.
