Andrea Boudville

Andrea joined the Nossal Institute Health System Finance and Governance Unit in 2018, she is working on consultancies in the Pacific region including a study on access to specialised clinical services, this is a joint study with WHO and the Pacific Community (SPC) and is funded by the Asia Pacific Observatory.    She is a technical advisor for research on access to sexual and reproductive health services and unsafe abortion in the Solomon Islands, with the Solomon Islands Planned Parenthood Association.

Before joining the Nossal Institute, Andrea worked for the Centre for Excellence in Rural Sexual Health leading health promotion and workforce development initiatives with rural communities and organisations in the Loddon Mallee region of Victoria.   From 2010-2015 Andrea was a Research Fellow in Indigenous Eye Health at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. Andrea contributed to  a national translation research project to address barriers to eye care for Aboriginal Australians and worked closely with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in remote, rural and urban locations across Australia.   Andrea has worked in health and development in east Africa,  Asia and the Pacific region with Marie Stopes International and the World Health Organisation in China.

Andrea’s interest is in addressing inequities around access to health care. Her work in translation research and capacity building focusses on engagement with health professionals, governments, and non-government organisations and aims to influence policy change, foster enabling environments and provide better access to health care, especially for rural communities and people who are marginalised.

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biomedical Science and Molecular Biology from Murdoch University and a Master’s in International Health from Monash University.
