Dr Shahinoor Akter
Research Fellow

Dr Shahinoor is a Research Fellow in Gender and Women's Health. She is a medical anthropologist and holds a PhD in Public Health & Behavioural Science, Master of Public Health, and Master of Social Science (Anthropology).
Shahinoor has expertise in qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research design focusing on maternal health, childbirth, health equity and Indigenous women's health in low-and middle-income countries.
She also has substantial knowledge and expertise in conducting and publishing systematic reviews including Cochrane review. Prior to coming to the University of Melbourne, Shahinoor worked as a researcher at International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh) and as a Lecturer at Jagannath University, Bangladesh.
