Professor Jane Pirkis Recipient of 2017 UoT Distinguished Alumni Award

Professor Jane Pirkis, Director the Centre for Mental Health, was awarded the University of Tasmania’s 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award last week. This award honours the achievements of University of Tasmania graduates who have made or are making a significant difference in both local and/or wider international communities. Prior to completing her PhD at the University of Melbourne, Prof Pirkis studied at the University of Tasmania where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Master of Psychology. Prof Pirkis was presented with the award in recognition of her research in mental health and suicide prevention which has shaped policy and practice in Australia and overseas.
