Welcome to Professor Tony Blakely
On the 5th of September 2016, Professor Tony Blakely joined the Health Economics Unit in the Centre for Health Policy on a fractional appointment.
Professor Blakely, an epidemiologist at the University of Otago, New Zealand, has an extensive portfolio of research including the New Zealand Census-Mortality Study (NZCMS). This pioneering study links the national censuses with mortality data to allow monitoring and research on ethnic and socio-economic inequalities and the contribution of smoking to mortality.
Professor Blakely will be working with health economists in the School to develop a cardiovascular disease simulation model.
