Richard Aedy devoted an entire episode of his weekly Radio National program The Money to the Australia’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme: On Prescription: What the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme costs and how it could be better.
Professor Philip Clarke was interviewed on the history of the scheme, some of its failings and options for reforms. The program also included a discussion of approach adopted in New Zealand of using an entirely autonomous authority PHARMAC that manages a fixed budget.
