Members of the Health Economics Unit present at the Australian Health Economics Society conference 2018
Associate Professor Kim Dalziel, Dr An-Duy Tran, Dr Natalie Carvalho and Ms Michelle Tew recently presented at the 40th Australian Health Economics Society (AHES) conference in Hobart, Tasmania. The annual AHES conference is the largest health economics meeting in Australia providing a platform for the presentation and discussion of latest research in the application of economics to health and health care systems in Australia and globally.

Associate Professor Kim Dalziel presented at Australian Health Economics Doctoral workshop (AHED), a special session embedded within AHES, her view on building a health economics career and international collaborations. She was also one of the organizers of another session on teaching health economics where she shared her experience on teaching health economics alongside clinical trials.
Dr An Duy Tran presented a study on cost-effectiveness of combination therapy versus monotherapy for patients with systemic sclerosis-related pulmonary arterial hypertension. This is a collaboration between An (lead) and rheumatologists at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Dr Natalie Carvalho presented on insights into distinguishing health from health-related quality of life using preference-based survey responses, for which she won a prize for best presentation at the conference.
Ms Michelle Tew presented her work from her PhD project in which she examined the implications of incorporating future medical costs in the cost-effectiveness analysis of a sepsis management program in cancer patients in both the AHED workshop as well the main conference.
