CHP PhD Completion: Georgia Dempster
Science Communication for Public Health: Public Consultations, News media Representations and Public Experts
Thursday 29 June at 10:00am to 11:00am
This thesis explores the intersection of public health and science communication. The aim was to study the tensions in disseminating public health science in socially constructed environments. The first case study analysed a public consultation, the second case study reviewed news media representations of a scientific study and the third case study investigated public experts’ experiences of acting as science communicators. This thesis highlights how science communication influences public perception and acknowledges the challenges of translating complex scientific information.
