
Dr. Yafei Si is a Research Fellow in Health Economics at the Cancer Health Services Research Unit. He holds a PhD in Actuarial Science – Health Economics from the University of New South Wales and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research, where his research focused on the life-course determinants of health and the overuse of healthcare in primary care.
At the Cancer Health Services Research Group, Yafei applies his expertise in health and behavioural economics, digital health, implementation science, and social epidemiology to improve public health outcomes, particularly in cancer care. His research encompasses:
- The application of discrete choice experiments, health economic evaluations, and health genomics to enhance subjective well-being and quality of life for cancer patients.
- Leveraging advancements in generative AI to empower patients and healthcare providers for improved cancer care delivery.
- Calibrating macroeconomic models to quantify the burden of cancer and inform health policy decisions.
Yafei serves on the editorial board of BMC Health Services Research and is an Affiliate Research Fellow at the Global Labour Organization (GLO). He is an active member of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA), Australian Health Economics Society (AHES), Health Systems Global (HSG), and the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS).
Previously, he was a Postgraduate Fellow at Yale University and earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Outside of research, Yafei enjoys hiking, swimming, and diving.
