Prof Stuart Kinner to Chair the WHO Health in Prisons Programme Technical Expert Group (TEG)

Following the WHO Regional Office for Europe Health in Prisons Programme (HIPP) Preparatory meeting for the Technical Expert Group (TEG), held in Helsinki on 28th March 2019, Prof Stuart Kinner was named as the Chair of the WHO HIPP TEG. The TEG will consist of experts from around the globe in areas related to prison health, and with specific technical competency on data and health indicators.

The WHO HIPP TEG will provide guidance and support to the work of WHO HIPP in improving the Health in Prisons European Database (HIPED), and exploring the feasibility of the HIPED to other settings. The current HIPED database contains data from the National Questionnaire for the Minimum Public Health Dataset for Prisons in the WHO European Region, completed by 39 European Member States between 2016 and 2017.
