Prof Stuart Kinner awarded funding to extend collaboration with UBC Health in Vancouver

Justice Health Unit Head, Prof Stuart Kinner, has been awarded funding by the University of British Columbia Health (UBC Health), including for two collaborative visits to UBC, Vancouver, during 2022.

This funding is awarded as part Health After 2020, a UBC Health program designed to support researchers to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations.

The purpose of this successful funding application - an extension of an existing collaboration - is to strengthen partnerships between researchers at the UBC and the University of Melbourne (UoM) to facilitate international collaborative research that uses linked administrative data to understand and prevent overdose among people who experience incarceration.

Activities proposed under this funding include a Grand Round co-presentation, Dialogue Sessions, a peer-reviewed publication and a further grant application on health inequities and illicit drug overdose among people with criminal justice involvement in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We congratulate Prof Kinner and wish him well for his forthcoming visits to Vancouver and other aspects of this collaboration.
