Justice Health Unit researchers win MSPGH award
Melissa Willoughby (pictured) and Emilia Janca from the Justice Health Unit were recipients of awards at the 2020 Melbourne School of Population and Global health (MSPGH) Annual Awards held on 9 December 2020.
Emilia won the Research Support Award for her excellent work co-ordinating the Staying Quit After Release (SQuARe) trial. This is a two-arm, double-blinded, multisite randomised controlled trial evaluating the impact of a multi-component smoking cessation support intervention promoting maintained smoking abstinence following release from smoke-free prisons.
Mel won the Committee Service Award for her role as Secretary of the Graduate Researcher Association MSPGH (GRAM) and the Higher Degree Research Student Leadership Award for her role on the Knowledge Translation and Engagement Committee in MSPGH and as an Associate Editor for BMC Public Health.
