Victorian Ombudsman enquiry into AOD rehabilitation services following criminal justice system contact

""

In February 2017, Prof Stuart Kinner, Jesse Young and Kathryn Snow of the Justice Health Unit made a submission to the Victorian Ombudsman enquiry into rehabilitation services post prison.

Their submission described the burden of substance-related use and harm in people who cycle through prisons. It also described the challenges in improving health and justice outcomes for this population due to gaps between evidence, policy and practice.

Additionally, the submission called for greater collaboration between researchers and the Victorian Department of Justice, as well as the reframing of the issue from a purely ‘criminocentric’ perspective to one considering the health and wellbeing of people with criminal justice involvement.
