Dr Sharon Huebner is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Indigenous Studies Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, an honorary Research Fellow at Monash University's Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, Faculty of Arts, and a Visiting Fellow within the College of Health and Medicine at the Australian National University. Sharon has worked in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families for the past two decades, protecting and preserving cultural heritage, including the digital return of material culture from archives, libraries and museums. Important to this practice of return and community engagement has been advocacy of Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property rights and the recognition of cultural decision-making practices, ethics, knowledge, and protocols. Sharon is currently working on research related to the following ARC Discovery Indigenous and Discovery grants: 'Aboriginal Remote Narrowcast TV and the Audiovisual Archive' (IN180100014) and 'Reclaiming Performance Under Assimilation in Southeast Australia, 1935-75 (DP180100938).
