On 27 July 2020, Melbourne Data Analytics Platform (MDAP) launched its first annual report since launching in 2019, 'Shaping the Future of Data Intensive Research'. As part of a celebration of its first year, the report showcases some of MDAP's successful collaborations with researchers across University of Melbourne faculties, and its ideas on the future of data-intensive research.

A major initiative of MDAP during 2019-2020 has been a three-way collaboration with the IDN and the Kaiela Institute (KI) in developing a locally-specific framework for data governance, forming part of the establishment of KI's Algabonyah Data & Research Unit.

This self-governing data strategy will provide the mechanisms for Indigenous communities in the Goulburn Murray Region to manage, control, protect and honour their information both externally and internally. The IDN has played a key role supporting the partnership and looking forward to replicating the arrangement with other community-controlled data and resurrect organisations in the future.
