Sean Choolburra uses comedy to combat trachoma.

A high profile Aboriginal comedian has been engaged in the fight to finally defeat trachoma.

Trachoma is a a bacterial infection of the eye that can  lead  to blindness  if not properly treated.

Australia is currently the only first world country where the communicable disease still occurs.

Sean Choolburra one of Australia’s most recognised and long running Aboriginal comedians is working alongside a team from the University of Melbourne in the ongoing fight to eliminate trachoma in Aboriginal communities.

Mr Choolburra says comedy is a unique way of educating and engaging people about the contagious eye disease trachoma.
