Dr James Rose

Dr James Rose is Senior Research Fellow (Driving Research Momentum) with the Indigenous Studies Unit in the Centre for Health Equity, Melbourne School of Population & Global Health, where he coordinates the Indigenous Data Network. Prior to joining the School, Dr Rose worked as a forensic social anthropologist providing expert evidence on native title claims and negotiations to the Federal Court of Australia, and as a private consultant.
Dr Rose is a social anthropologist specialising in Indigenous population dynamics, social and kinship network analysis, geographic information systems, and research data management. He has over 15 years' experience working with Indigenous communities and organisations on land, resource, and cultural heritage ownership programs across Southeast, Central, and Northern Australia, under a range of government regimes and private sector initiatives.
