Senior Research Officer, Gender and Women's Health

The Senior Research Officer, Violence against Women, will join a small team of researchers working on gender and women’s health, with a focus on violence against women. The position will support the work of a project recently funded by Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS), the MuSeS project. The MuSeS project (Multicultural and settlement services supporting women experiencing violence) aims to develop an in-depth understanding of the current and potential role of settlement and multicultural services in supporting immigrant and refugee women experiencing violence. It includes a nested sub-study focusing on the interaction between the mental health of refugee women and family violence, identifying opportunities for specialist torture and trauma rehabilitation services to support refugee women experiencing family violence.

The Senior Research Officer will work closely with the project team throughout, which includes co-investigators from the University of Melbourne, Flinders University, the University of Tasmania, and the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health. The Senior Research Officer will have the opportunity to lead publications, deliver guest lectures, give conference presentations, and develop grant applications for new research projects in relation to violence against women. They will be supervised by Dr. Cathy Vaughan, and be supported in their work by colleagues within the Gender and Women’s Health Unit.
