A new publication by Professor Emeritus Janet McCalman

Launched Thursday 14 October 2021

The launch for Professor Emeritus Janet McCalman’s latest publication Vandemonians: The Repressed History of Colonial Victoria was on Thursday 14 October. Built on a community genealogy project with volunteers from all over Australia and overseas, the book reconstructs the history of Tasmania’s convict settlers and their lives in Victoria, offering a rich study of the lives of these unwilling colonisers, and an original and confronting new history of our convict past - the repressed history of colonial Victoria.  Professor Graeme Davison, Emeritus Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor of History at Monash University, launched the book, and Bill Garner, writer and actor, did a reading.

There was also an article featuring the publication in the Age on Sunday 24 October -
