MDHS Graduate Research Prize 2020

Congratulations to Marissa Shields for her prize winning presentation at the Faculty's Graduate Research Conference 2020.

At the 2020 MDHS Graduate Research Conference for graduate research students from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS), awards were given in multiple streams to reflect the Faculty’s diverse range of research disciplines.

Marissa Shields from the Disability and Health Unit received an award for her presentation in the Population Health stream; 'Does disability modify the relationship between labour force status and psychological distress among young people?'

Marissa is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the mental health impacts of school leavers with disability as they transition into the workforce. Marissa's work to date has used quantitative research methods to assess areas such as disability, gender, and employment characteristics as determinants of mental health.
