The link between reproductive and respiratory health in women

Epidemiological evidence has revealed sex differences within chronic lung disease development and presentation that highlights inherent susceptibility within women. Furthermore, experimental and observational data has pointed to female reproductive life events and their associated hormonal shifts as partly responsible for mediating sex-specific effects on respiratory health and disease expression in women. My doctoral work will focus on some of these key reproductive exposures and their association with pulmonary function and chronic respiratory disease development, symptoms, and severity.
