Professor Peter Annear
Head of Health Systems Governance and Financing
Peter graduated in Economics from the University of Melbourne and completed a PhD at Deakin University studying health systems policy and strategy in Cambodia. He has worked on health system issues with local and international with colleagues in Cambodia for 25 years and, during this time, has seen the country’s economy and health system develop strongly.
Peter joined the Nossal Institute in 2009 as Senior Research Fellow and Academic head of the AusAID Health Policy and Health Financing Knowledge Hub. Prior to that he was Country Program Manager for Save the Children in Cambodia, Asian Regional Manager for International Development Support Services, and has worked on projects with WHO, the World Bank, AusAID and other agencies.
His personal mission is to build knowledge and experience among his colleagues in Australia, Asia and the Pacific to help improve the quality, delivery and equity of health and social outcomes.
