Selected Publication: the Consistent Relationship between Glucose Control and Modelled Health Outcomes in People with T2DM

A recent analysis by Xinyang Hua and Professor Philip Clarke from the Health Economics Unit has been published in the journal PharmacoEconomics. This study systematically reviewed cost-effectiveness studies using type 2 diabetes simulation models and found that there is a consistent relationship between treatment effect assumptions on HbA1c and simulated outcomes in terms of quality-adjusted life-years and life expectancy. This relationship can be used as a benchmark to identify studies deviating from others, and generate long-term effectiveness predictions when insufficient resources are available to use a simulation model.
