Decolonising ethics? A critical analysis of researchers intended ethical research practices and the role of Indigenous communities in ensuring ethical research

Date: Friday, 18th August at 11:00am

Venue: Room 410, Level 4, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton

The National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) ethical guidelines for Indigenous research in Australia are well established. Indigenous institutions have identified additional principles for conducting health research within indigenous communities. Yet, it is difficult to measure to what extent ethical principles for Indigenous health research are complied with in practice.

This qualitative study will incorporate a decolonising methodological approach from an Indigenous standpoint, and aims to explore how Indigenous communities ensure researchers adhere to Indigenous health research ethical principles.
